Item Aprovechamiento de RCD en el proyecto urbanización Villapraga Palmira(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Pérez Tabares, Carlos Andrés; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoThe dynamics of the construction sector lead to the generation of construction and demolition Waste (CDW) negatively affecting the environment subsoil, water sources and implies a significant increase in the consumption of natural resources. This model of unsustainable consumption is aggravated by the inadequate management of CDWs. In the Urbanization Villapraga, no use of CDWs was carried out, therefore it was necessary to generate the design and implementation of a plan for the proper use and management of CDWs to reduce the environmental impact of such construction and reduce production costs without affecting the quality of the product. Recovery and reprocessing processes took advantage of materials from CDWs, most of which were destined for the formation of base and granular subbase, which, when extended on the track, presented a uniform surface, without cracks, potholes, laminations or segregations generating a suitable structure for 6700 m2 of asphalt binder, demonstrating the economic and technical feasibility of using these materials.Item Diagnóstico de la gestión integral de residuos peligrosos hospitalarios y similares, en establecimientos categorizados como grandes generadores, para los años 2016 y 2017 en el departamento del Cauca(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Vallejos Ortiz, Luisa Manuela; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoHazardous waste generated by hospitals and healthcare centres, represent risks and difficulties, fundamentally due to the infectious nature of its components. A poor management of these hazardous wastes create not only situations of risk that threaten the health of the hospital’s population (staff and patients), but it can also be the cause of environmental detriment. Therefore, the present case-study seeks to establish a diagnosis of the Integrated Management of hazardous hospital Waste at healthcare facilities that have been categorized as large waste-generators/(contributors), in the Province/(department) of Cauca, during the period of 2016 to 2017. The Registry of Hazardous Waste Generators was used as source of data, to obtain figures on waste generation and management of hospital hazardous-waste. The data hereby, was validated and transmitted by the Autonomous Regional Corporation of Cauca (CRC). Data on internal and external management, was as well provided by the CRC. According to the figures presented, in the department of Cauca, in both, 2016 and 2017, the economic activity that had the highest contribution of hazardous waste, in percentage, is human healthcare, with 36% and 29%, respectively. Even when the most representative economic sectors in 2016 and 2017 were information and communications, energy, gas and water, social, community and personal services, financial and real estate services, agriculture and industry, none of these represent such high generation of hazardous waste.Item Evaluación de la calidad del aire en la Universidad Santiago de Cali. Medición de las partículas totales en suspensión(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Reyes Arias, Tito Reinaldo; Bernal Suárez, Diana PaolaAir pollution is one of the most severe environmental problems worldwide, and it has a particular impact on the health of human beings. Cali is a densely populated city, with topographic diversity in its land and an environment with multiple industrial and transport activities that emit different pollutants into the atmosphere that suffer unfavorably from the quality of the air that is breathed in the environment. The general objective of the project is to determine the concentration of total suspended particles and their impact on air quality in the environment of the Santiago de Cali University. The monitoring of suspended particles and the calibration of high-volume sampling equipment was carried out in accordance with Resolution No. 02308 of February 24, 1986 of the Ministry of Health and the standards of the US EPA contained in the 40 CFR Part 50, Appendix B, on Reference Method for the determination of particulate matter suspended in the atmosphere (High Volume Method) and the Colombian Technical Standard NTC 3704 of ICONTEC. From the results it is concluded that the particles in total suspension (PST) present the particles that exceed the corrected local norm 88.1ug / m3, thus exceeding the allowed value established by Colombian legislation, possibly generating undesirable consequences on the health of the population such as acute respiratory infections and bronchial asthma episode, exposed to environmental pollution caused by vehicular density.Item Evaluación de metales pesados en partículas totales en suspensión en los alrededores de la Universidad Santiago de Cali(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) López Morales, Sharom Andrea; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoAir pollution related to inhalable PM10 particles poses an environmental problem due to the possible effects on health and wellbeing in the population, which these pollutants can generate. Among the substances that are part of the components of PM10, heavy metals stand out; particles that alone can cause a variety of alterations on health and the environment. The uncertainty about the true levels of these metals in the atmosphere makes it necessary to evaluate their concentration at atmospheric level and identify if they comply with the regulations on air quality in force at the study site. In this research project, four heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cu, Cr) were analyzed with a high probability of being presented in environmental samples collected from four points of the Santiago de Cali University. To achieve this, the samples were subject to acid digestion processes and analyzed using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry method, determining their concentration and comparing the results with current regulations. The results show compliance with the regulations for the permissible contamination limits related to the concentrations of two of the four metals selected for the Cu and Cr study. Cadmium and Lead on the other hand, fails to identify reliably, the values resulting from the analysis are too small to be adequately detected by the characterization method used for this investigation. However, the results are conclusive regarding the presence of these metals in the medium. The presence of chromium and copper in the environment is directly related to the physical characteristics of the study area, such as the high vehicular flow on nearby roads and to the meteorological behavior during the days of Sharom Andrea López Morales. [(2019)] collection. It is considered advisable that the city surveillance system presents disaggregated data for certain predominant metals in the air in order to identify problem foci within the daily monitoring of total suspended particles (PM10 and PM2.5).Item Identificación del uso del marketing verde como estrategia para la promoción de la responsabilidad social y ambiental en los consumidores del sector de alimentos empacados(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Robledo Cedeño, Juan Camilo; Loaiza Sarria, Lina Vanessa; Giraldo Daza, Natalia; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoThe objective of this paper is to identify how green marketing can be used as a strategy to promote the social and environmental responsibility of consumers in the packaged food sector. At the methodological level, a descriptive study was used, it was used as a technical technique, it was reviewed, it was documented, information was obtained in a systematic and orderly manner, the electronic sources were consulted, they were based on academic data, in the field of academia and research, among these have been: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), LILACS, Cochrane, ScienceDirect and the Google academic. Among the problems that derive from the consumption of food products, these are the principles of life, the lack of separation of waste at the source, the lack of a specialized collection of cleaning companies, a deficient structure of companies which is dedicated to recycling, the lack of consumer education on the subject. Environmental problems have manifested in different ways, each day the consequences are more evident, the problem to the environmental problem, is generated with the waste that originates from the consumption of packaged foods, it is evident that every day the amount of packaging that ends On the website, there are water sources and even air. In the different contexts, an environmental responsibility relationship has been developed in the post-consumption phase, using concepts such as reverse logistics, where companies and consumers are responsible for the waste generated and reuse and recycling are promoted. In the same way, it has been developed. The number of products has been reduced. The consumer has also chosen to choose products and brands that are responsible for the environment in this way.Item Plan de diseño de huertas caseras urbanas, mediante la utilización de botellas plásticas PET en el barrio los Mandarinos, Cali, Valle del Cauca(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Mosquera Murillo, Carlos Alberto; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoThe research carried out aims to create a plan for urban gardens by using plastic PET bottles in the Los Mandarinos neighborhood in the city of Cali. As we know the development within today's societies have had the misfortune to form surrounded by unnecessary elements within society with the need to produce and distribute products in a more systematized way. In these circumstances, we find that much of the development that capitalism gave us as a solution is to use in monstrous amounts of plastic as a distribution alternative. This has resulted in an indiscriminate shot of waste pollution figures on these products indiscriminately without being aware of their high periods of decomposition. In the face of these negative impacts the world has been making alternative options for the use of plastic, seeking that the development of plastic can strengthen alternatives that help improve the environmental impact that it has on the planet. Much of the plastic used in the world is for PET bottles, which are used for liquids such as sodas, water, cleaning products, among others. The intention of the plan is to provide an improvement from two subjects of the environmental sector such as recycling and self-support, with which we want to develop the urban garden project with an alternative development of these plastic bottles as an option of reuse in the processItem Propuesta para implementar una tecnología para el aprovechamiento de residuos orgánicos en el municipio de el Cerrito Valle(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Sánchez Campo, Edwin Alfonso; Mosquera Ramos, Gerardo; Reyes Arias, Tito ReinaldoSome municipalities in the Valley have not implemented technologies for the use of organic waste where it is not a priority to reuse them, but is an option to consider their reuse since it involves generating income and a contribution to environmental care by transforming them into composting. The main objective is that the governmental entities of the municipality of El Cerrito Valle consider the importance of having in their government plans and development proposals for the implementation of a technology that helps with the transformation of such waste into composting and minimize the amount that reaches the landfill. Since the proposal is oriented to the transformation of organic waste, this will be done by implementing the correct technology for its use and potential use in the agricultural sector from its characterization, classification and mixing of waste, noting that the composting is of quality considering a technology that can be implemented where 3 variables were analyzed to select between 2 technological alternatives, the cost, the capacity of the alternative (volume of waste) and the space required according to the financial scope. It was detected that the municipality does not have technologies for waste separation and does not have an integrated management plan, so finally do not take advantage of the tons of waste generated in urban and rural areas for improvement, although they are located in an agricultural area.
