To address the issue of inefficient inventory management in the main warehouse of a construction consortium in Cali, a proposal for inventory control was developed using the structure of the Deming cycle. The proposal incorporates ABC analysis, the calculation of the optimal order quantity, and the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) for merchandise tracking. First, the sample elements were grouped into three categories to identify the most valuable items based on their cost. Subsequently, the optimal order quantity was calculated, leading to five policy proposals. Additionally, inventory segmentation was performed using optimal "Q" quantities, and a comparison was made with the sample to observe priority changes with the implemented model. Next, the total costs of the sample inventory and the "Q" inventory were obtained, revealing an 85.56% reduction in total ordering costs and a 4.93% increase in inventory holding costs with the model. Finally, one of five software proposals was selected through Saaty's hierarchical analysis as a support tool for tracking supplies using the first-in, first-out model. In conclusion, the proposed model is expected to improve operational efficiency and reduce total inventory-related costs by focusing attention on the most valuable warehouse items and leveraging the selected software for monitoring and continuous model improvement.
