Item Organismos entomopatógenos usados en Colombia como agentes de control biológico de plagas: Revisión sistemática(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Rangel Gil, Marilyn Alexa; Varela Díaz, Daniela; Caicedo Bejarano, Luz DaryThe various species of organisms that cause pests in crops of Colombian agricultural interest cause significant economic losses affecting the country’s income and yields. For this reason, the use of commercial synthetic products has increased, which are used alone or in different types of mixtures, making them more toxic to other animal species, to man and to the environment. To address this problem, biological control is used, focusing on strengthening natural control and the use of compounds based on organisms such as fungi, plants, viruses, bacteria, nematodes, among others, which can eliminate or reduce the damage caused by different types of pests. To determine which entomopathogenic organisms were used in Colombia for biological pest control, a systematic search was carried out in different databases that made it possible to identify the studies carried out in the last 10 years on etiological agents, target pests, farming methods and the effectiveness of these organisms in the country’s main agricultural crops. The departments or cities where most of these studies have been carried out were Bogotá (Cundinamarca), Valle del Cauca and Caldas. The pest insects most involved belong to the orders Diptera, Hymenoptera, Hemiptera, Lepidoptera, Coleoptera and Blattodea. The crops of agricultural and economic interest most affected were coffee, sugar cane, oil palm, avocado, among others. Most of these organisms cause mortality greater than 50% and are considered a viable and effective alternative that can be used in conjunction with other measures for comprehensive pest control, to improve food security and be more environmentally friendly
