Item Rol de la familia en el cuidado del infante con Síndrome de Down: Revisión de alcance(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Marcillo Villareal, Maira Alejandra; Puenguenan Taimal, Bairon Alexander; Velásquez Galvis, Katherine Sofía; Villegas Arenas, Dolly (Directora)Down syndrome (DS) is the most common genetic chromosomal disorder that causes intellectual disability, caused mainly by a trisomy of chromosome 21. This condition affects not only the development of the infant but also the family dynamics, since the care of a child with DS requires constant and specialized support. The family plays a crucial role in the care and development of an infant with Down syndrome. From the time of diagnosis, family members become the main providers of emotional, physical and educational support. Their involvement and understanding are essential to face the challenges presented by the syndrome and to foster an environment that promotes the well-being and optimal development of the child.
