    Características sociodemográficas y medidas antropométricas relacionadas al riesgo cardiovascular en docentes de la Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019

    INTRODUTION: The World Health Organization (WHO) shows that cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are one of the biggest public health problems in the world. CVD in 6 one of the main causes of mortality in Colombia, the second cause of death being only overcome by violence. OBJECTIVES: To determine the sociodemographic characteristics and anthropometric measures related to cardiovascular risk in teachers of a university institution. METHODS: Analytical-cross-sectional study at the University of Santiago de Cali, 2019. The population for this study is made up of teachers from the University of Santiago de Cali, Pampalinda headquarters, whose contract is full-time, daytime. The simple size for the research corresponds to 97 teachers, which was obtained through the EPIDAT statistical program. RESULTS: Regarding the anthropometric characteristics, in the variable body mass index a higher frequency of overweight was found with 47.1% (n= 49), a low cardiovascular risk was found with 60.6% (n= 63). The variable age and cardiovascular risk obtained a statistically significant relationship with a p= 0.001, with an OR of 0.35 indicating that age is a protective factor. CONCLUSIONS: Most of the teaching staff of the universities, do not perform enough physical activity to obtain benefits on their health, As for the relationship between the age variable and cardiovascular risk, the older the more likely to suffer risk cardiovascular to this would be added the lifestyle of the individual.
