Item “Evaluación de los factores que se debe tener en cuenta para el uso del poliéteréter cetona – peek en prótesis parcial removible: revisión documental”(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Mazuera Granja, Daniela; Paredes Vargas, Ingrid Alexandra; Abadia Basto, AlvaroThe purpose of the research is to evaluate the factors that must be taken into account for the use of polyether ether ketone - PEEK in removable partial dentures, for which an exhaustive documentary review was carried out on studies that address the issue from which it was obtained information about the properties of the material such as resistance to chewing forces, pigmentation, aesthetics, elasticity, compression strength and quality; that when compared with the properties of the material that is conventionally used, which is chromium-cobalt, they present very positive results. PEEK is above all properties, except for the compression force that is higher with traditional material. The implications of this study are that it provides dentistry with enough information to include this material (PEEK) in removable prostheses, which also benefits the user of the prostheses due to the benefits of the product-input. PEEK is a material that works with a CAD CAM system; therefore, the removable prosthesis is positioned alongside the latest advances in the metal-free fixed prosthesis, in the field of aesthetics and biocompatibility.
