Despite the efforts being made to increase coverage in Colombia in 2015, only 30% of exclusive breastfeeding was reached up to 6 months. The university mother is a population that according to studies has difficulties in assuming the role of breastfeeding due to their academic commitments. Therefore, the study determines the prevalence of exclusive breastfeeding in children of nursing students from a university institution in the city of Cali during the first semester of 2020b. The research is descriptive, cross-sectional, has a quantitative approach, it was sought through a survey to characterize exclusive breastfeeding in mothers from a University Institution. The entire population of nursing students from a University Institution with children under 2 years of age was considered, who defined a sample of 11 mothers. The results show that four out of every eleven mothers abandoned exclusive breastfeeding before six months of age, two mothers maintained exclusive breastfeeding, the findings evidence the need to strengthen lines of action at the political and governmental level, around the objectives of strengthening the goals in LM.
