Item A mathematical model for the optimal scheduling of smart home electrical loads(World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society, 2018-01-01) Moya Chavez, Francisco David; Da Silva, Luiz C. P.; Lopez A., Juan C.This study develops a mathematical model for the optimal scheduling of controllable electrical loads in a smart home - MCELS. The goal of the MCELS is to minimize the total cost of the energy consumed by the smart house while decreasing the power supplied by the distribution network, still respecting requirements stablished by the costumer. To verify the MCELS results, a GRASP algorithm was used to compare both methodologies. A typical residential user in the area of Sao Paulo (Brazil), which has strong solar radiation, is established as a case study. The results show that the GRASP algorithm reduces the energy purchased from the network in approximatively 4%. Meanwhile, the MCELS provides a reduction of 6% on the energy used from the grid. This work also includes simulations where an electrical vehicle equipped with batteries of high storage capacity is recharged. Analysis of the results showed a superior performance of the MCELS if comparison with the GRASP algorithm, in five major aspects: a) lower use of the grid, b) reduction of electricity bill, c) higher use of renewable sources, d) reduction of demand peaks, and e) lower computation timeItem Gestión de historia clínica y administración de la operación de IPS Prestadoras de Servicios de Salud en casa, con funcionamiento en la nube y dispositivos móviles: Caso de Estudio IPS ICOMSALUD(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) González Hernández, Mario; Moya Chavez, Francisco DavidHealth sector in Colombia with the enactment of Law 100 of 1993, of December 2, 1993, Integral Social Security System, presented a great transformation in the functional and operation alstructure in the provision of health services. A great variety of Software have been oriented to satisfy the integral operation in the Health Provider Entities and intramural care in Health Service Provider Institutions. Meanwhile, the evidence for the development of computer support has been directed to the billing system in the Health Service Provider Institutions of extramural care, being categorized as Pymes. For all this, the importance of the implementation of computer support in extramural care in the category of home care is based on the recovery of the patient, the rotation of beds in clinics or hospitals, the generation of employment. The implementation of cloud computing strengthens the administration of management and the portability of the clinical history in the Health Service Provider Institutions ICOMSALUD with its home care service, in addition to compliance with the electronic clinical history (Law 1438 of 2011), which allowed to continue in the intramural care market.Item Incentives for the development of photovoltaic energy in a developing country, case study(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019-10-17) Moya Chavez, Francisco David; Martínez Ortega, Sara Virginia; Sarria, Milton OrlandoThis paper aims to present the great potential that Colombia has with the use of renewable energies as a developing country. Through the implementation of different policies and laws, it encourages all those who investigate or implement the use of renewable energy. This is motivated as a response to the changes needed towards clean technologies thus contributing to avoid environmental, economic and social problems caused by the excess use of fossil fuels and the misuse of non-renewable natural resources. Through an exhaustive review of the bibliography and the current Colombian regulations, it will be analyzed how the country is prepared to migrate to clean technologies for energy production such as photovoltaic systems. And it will explain the case study of the Universidad Santiago de Cali, where has been implemented solar panels and given the excellent results attained, the university plans to expand the solar panels to all the buildings in the campus.Item Issues associated with the implementation of wind energy power generation in isolated and non-interconnected rural areas – Case study(World Scientific and Engineering Academy and Society, 2018-01-01) Moya Chavez, Francisco David; Bernal, Efrain; Montoya, Jairo; Rubiano, José Luis; Salazar, Fabián; Garzon, AndresAnalysis of difficulties and issues related to the design, construction, transportation, installation and operation of two single-blade wind turbines type as part of a hybrid project to supply electrical energy to an isolated rural community in northern of Colombia are discussed in this paper. This study modeling aerodynamic forces, as well as the analysis the materials used in the construction stage, welding analysis and control systems. This investigation indicates the difficulty to provide stability of civil and mechanical structures of wind turbines without a complete assurance of installation. Most significant issues associated to the development this case including the lack of plan strategy and deficient supervision during construction stagesItem Methodology for the implementation of photovoltaic energy in a microgrid(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019-10-17) Moya Chavez, Francisco David; Diaz Velez, Maria Fernanda; Orozco, Sebastianthis work presents a methodology for the implementation of a photovoltaic energy system in a micro-grid minimizing possible errors during the process. Our methodology allows the inclusion of clean energies at the university campus using the minimum amount of time. This work illustrates the advantages of implementing a photovoltaic systems in a microgrid, such as electricity bills reduction or reduction of pollutant emissions. The proposed methodology has allowed the inclusion of renewable energy in a satisfactory way, overcoming the challenges that currently arise in a developing country.
