Item “Tendencias de investigación de la deserción en la universidad Santiago de Cali: revisión documental (2003 – 2019)”(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Vidal Bustamante, María Camila; Mosquera Galindo, Leidy Daniela; Velásquez Marín, Natalia; Torres Zambrano, NataliaA horizontally descriptive quantitative descriptive study was carried out through a documentary review in order to describe the research trends regarding the issue of student desertion from the different academic programs based on the institutional reports of the Santiago de Cali University between 2003 to 2019. To carry out the collection of documents, the database of the Hemeroteca, repositorio and institutional public catalog of the Santiago Cadena Copete library of the Santiago de Cali University was accessed and the inclusion and exclusion criteria were taken into account in the documentary review. These data were tabulated in an .exe type format and the analysis was carried out establishing correlation categories and priority tables according to the appearance of the resource in the texts, where 20 documents were found and nested in a lifeline, allowing comparison of the works of degree, under the parameters of study of the phenomenon with the book the desertion in the higher education of the Ministry of National Education (2009). Finally, it became clear that it is important for the Universidad Santiago de Cali to consider desertion as a necessary topic for research, which can contribute to improving its quality processes.
