In this work "Characterization of the ethical behavior in the environmental practices of the students of the program of Medicine of the USC". As environmental practices were taken the various activities that the medical student of the University of Santiago de Cali develops within its role as such, taking as categories: disposal of potentially infectious solid wastes, practices in laboratories and microbiological plantings, handling of contaminating gases, activities prior to performing biological practices such as asepsis and handwashing techniques, use of appropriate clothing in development Of the required practices within their training. As characteristics of ethical behavior were taken: responsibility, awareness and commitment of the population subject to this study; These characteristics reflect the students' behavior towards their peers, the correct application of norms and manuals, daily reflection on their actions, the search for solutions and the contribution to the common good of society. The focus of this research is quantitative. According to Hernández (2010), the quantitative approach has as characteristics to measure phenomena, to use statistics and to perform an analysis, through a sequential, deductive and probative process, which has as benefits: precision, replication, generalization of results and prediction. To make data collection more viable, the survey was divided into 6 previously named descriptors and 23 categories based on the theoretical framework. After the data were obtained, they were processed in the SPSS program version 15.0 to calculate the Cron Bach Alpha (developed by J.L Cron Bach). For the validity analysis, the mean was used as a measure of central tendency. (Hernández, 2006). For the reliability test it was ensured that the instrument used for sample collection and structured by the researchers, would yield a, correlation coefficient of 0.710. The analysis and interpretation of the results was made based on the correlation data, finding the most significant values to reach the objectives of the research. For this case: in the descriptors appropriate management of potentially infectious solid waste, awareness and responsibility and Development of activities prior to biological practices with commitment. As more relevant conclusions, it can be expressed that if there is an incidence relationship between the variables mentioned. With regard to the specific situation that referred to the description of how the categories of ethical behavior can be related to the environmental practices established in the present investigation, it was observed that there were relationships that were evidenced from almost null to positive mean between the two variables a study The correlations found lead us to express that within the present characterization of ethical behavior within environmental practices, if responsibility is presented as an important dimension for the exercise of adequate environmental practices. The research found that some categories of descriptors were correlated at a weak positive level, meaning that it was a low correlation, ie that environmental practices are based on ethical behavior in a weak positive way.
