Item Caracterización del tejido gingival en una población estudiantil de la Universidad privada Santiago de Cali en el periodo 2023.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Ramos Tintinago, Danna Yuley; Loaiza Maturana, Valeria; Hernández Sánchez, Leidy Natalia (Asesor)Introduction: The gingiva is an area of the masticatory mucosa adapted to adhere to the tooth and protect the deep structures represented by the dental element. The gingiva has a pale pink color and a smooth appearance that can be shiny or opaque when its keratinization decreases. Oral rehabilitation is linked to the patients' requirements, and concepts and criteria for the study of gingival tissue characterization are developed. Objective: To characterize the gingival tissue in a population between 17 and 25 years of age attending the Maxillofacial Radiology Center of the University of Santiago de Cali, in the period 2023. Methods: Descriptive study, taking photographic images with standardized parameters of the maxillary and mandibular anterior zone to identify the characteristics of the gingival tissue. Results: Conclusions: The patient's aesthetics does not depend only on the teeth but also on a compensation with the gingival space and the gum, and in this case being able to photographically identify the differences in the gums, the aesthetics at the time of applying in the study of the characterization of the gingival tissue. Keeping in mind that the gum also plays a role in carrying out the rehabilitation, it is required to have a natural nature of it, since each person has different features in the gingival tissue according to their characteristics. It is important to highlight that the gingival tissue changes and has different features depending on each person. This requires great importance in terms of oral rehabilitation as in dentistry, whether a patient has healthy gums or, on the contrary, if he is a patient who requires oral rehabilitation to identify not only the shape and characteristics of your teeth but also your gums according to the soft tissues that surround them.
