Item Faloplastia en pacientes con disforia de identidad de género. Una revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) López Ronderos, Laura Camila; Loaiza Gaviria, Natalia; Zúñiga Benavides, Laura Marcela; Lamprea Garcia,Angelica VivianaIntroduction: Phalloplasty is a reconstructive surgery that constructs a phallus (penis) for patients with gender dysphoria. Phalloplasty seeks to create a phallus that reaches three objectives: standing up to urinate, tactile properties, and erogenous properties. However, the deficit of this surgery creates challenges in patient decision-making (1). Objective: To analyze phalloplasty as a surgical treatment option for patients with gender identity dysphoria. Materials and methods: A search for updated articles was carried out, these are scientific and endorsed documents, published in the following databases: Google Scholar (n=5), Pubmed (n=20), Scielo (n=2), ScienceDirect (n=28), Springer (n=15), obtaining a total of 70 studies. Of which 50 articles were included for the bibliographic review. Results: Phalloplasty is a surgery highlighted by the increase in cases of patients with gender dysphoria. This surgery has not been categorized as standard in terms of creating an aesthetic phallus, due to its high complexity. Specialists frequently use the free forearm flap (RFFF) for its tissue formation capacity and its reliable neurovascular anatomy. However, its disadvantage is the visibility of the donor site. Therefore, the anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap is often used, which is easy to hide the donor site. Of course, There are complications such as bleeding, graft infections, urological problems such as urethral strictures, fistulas. Conclusions: Gender incongruity is an affectation that every day produces alarm due to its psychological, social, and physiological repercussions. For this reason, it is important to continue searching for a surgical technique for gender dysphoria and achieve an aesthetic, functional phallus with fewer intraoperative and postoperative complications
