Item Análisis multitemporal mediante imágenes Landsat de la expansión urbanística de Popayán Cauca, en el periodo 1999-2023(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Leyton Castro, David Julian; Fernández Muñoz, Oscar Eduardo; Orozco Ordóñez, Iván (Director)The multi-temporal analysis of urban expansion in the city of Popayán, between 1999 and 2023, is a comprehensive study that focuses on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to understand and visualize the growth of the city throughout over a period of 24 years. The main objective of this degree work is to analyze how the urban expansion of Popayán has behaved in the period 1999-2023 through the processing of satellite images. To carry out this analysis, cartographic data and satellite images from different years were collected, which made it possible to represent the change over time of urban expansion. Image processing techniques, such as change detection and land classification, were applied to identify urban and rural areas, as well as their transformation over time. The results of this study reveal significant trends in the expansion of Popayán, highlighting a constant growth of the city towards the peripheral areas and tutelary hills. This multi-temporal analysis not only offers a retrospective view of urban expansion in Popayán, but also provides valuable information for future decision-making in terms of sustainable development, territorial planning and conservation of the natural environment. Ultimately, this article shows the usefulness of GIS as effective tools for spatial analysis and urban planning in a constantly evolving region like Popayán.
