Entrenamiento muscular inspiratorio en modalidades deportivas cíclicas: revisión sistemática
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2022) Ibarra Soto, Maryam; Orozco García, Sandra Lizeth; Daza Arana, Jorge Enrique (Director)
espiratory muscle training (IMT) is proposed as a strategy to prevent muscle fatigue and the metaboreflex, which impair physical and respiratory performance. This systematic review analyzed experimental studies on IMT in cyclic sports such as swimming, cycling, athletics, and rowing, assessing its effects on cardiopulmonary performance, respiratory muscle strength, and lung function. An advanced search was conducted in multiple databases following PRISMA guidelines. The results indicate that IMT is an effective method to enhance performance and cardiopulmonary function in athletes, with interventions mainly based on 4–12 week programs using resistive load and threshold devices.
