In the context of the recycling industry in Cali, Colombia, which faces a low recycling rate and issues associated with informality in the sector, this research aims to address the efficient selection of recycled plastic suppliers to enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of local businesses. The study focuses on analyzing and applying multicriteria methods to optimize the supplier selection process, using techniques such as the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), Scoring, ELECTRE, among others, to determine the most effective tool in this specific context. The primary objective is to develop a model that facilitates and improves the management and control of raw materials in the recycled products sector in Cali, focusing on the application of methodologies that allow for systematic and well-founded decision-making. A methodological approach is employed that includes the characterization of the supply and production process, the description and application of multicriteria methods, and the evaluation of their applicability and effectiveness. Findings indicate that methods like AHP and TOPSIS are particularly useful for breaking down complex decisions and making clear choices between well-defined alternatives, respectively. While AHP helps to decompose the problem into manageable components, TOPSIS facilitates decisionmaking based on proximity to an ideal solution. Additionally, it was identified that each method has its nuances that must be considered when applying them, depending on the specific requirements of the decision at hand. The conclusions highlight the importance of appropriately selecting the multicriteria method based on the specific characteristics of the decision problem in the recycling industry. It is concluded that choosing the right method can significantly improve companies' ability to make informed decisions that effectively balance environmental and economic benefits, thus contributing to the sustainability and operational efficiency of the recycled products supply chain.
