The purpose of this essay was to determine the legal-political scope of forgiveness in the framework of transitional justice derived from the peace process of the Colombian Government and the FARC. In that sense, three objectives were formulated 1) Conceptualize transitional justice and its purpose in the Colombian context; 2) Describe the Colombian armed conflict; and 3) Establish the importance of forgiveness from the legal-political dimension in the final peace agreement between the Colombian government and the FARC. Colombia has been the scene of different manifestations of violence, including those fostered by guerrilla groups that find their origin in the hegemonic political practice between the Liberal and Conservative parties that excepted through the exercise of power, from the public function to those who were not attached to any of them, coupled with social exclusion and the provision of the most favored class in the structure of the State, among other factors; which are important to undertake a process of transnational justice that includes the political forgiveness of the actors of the internal armed conflict who committed serious human rights violations.
