This research aims to analyze eco-innovation as a sustainable strategy for agro-industrial companies in the Valle del Cauca. Through a qualitative approach, specifically a case study based on the analysis of documentary sources and the study of the Valle del Cauca case, the research is structured into three specific objectives: to clarify the concepts and terms of eco-innovation and their definition in Colombia; to establish a solid conceptual framework on the impact of eco-innovation on agro-industrial companies; and to describe the changes brought about by ecological innovation in agro-industrial companies and to specify its usefulness in the context of Valle del Cauca. The theoretical framework is based on the integration of the Theory of Sustainability, which emphasizes environmental, social, and economic responsibility in business practices; the Theory of Innovation, which explores the processes of generating and adopting new ideas and technologies in the market; and the Theory of Eco-Innovation, which addresses how innovations can significantly reduce environmental impact and improve business sustainability. The results obtained reveal that the adoption of ecoinnovations in agro-industrial companies in the Valle del Cauca not only contributes to environmental sustainability but also enhances operational efficiency and market competitiveness. Significant changes are observed in production processes, waste management, and resource use, highlighting the relevance of clean technologies and sustainable agricultural practices. The conclusions emphasize the need to promote public policies and support programs that facilitate the adoption of eco-innovations in the agro-industrial sector. Additionally, new hypotheses are proposed for future research, focusing on the long-term economic and social impact of these innovations, as well as exploring business models that more effectively integrate sustainability.
