Therefore, the nursing professional must have multiple competencies that not only provide comprehensive care but are accompanied by empathic attitudes that allow him/her to provide care beyond. Objective: To determine the importance of communication between nurse-patient and family in palliative care. Methodology: a scoping review was carried out from scientific databases such as Dialnet Plus, Pud Med, Scopus and Science direct. Through the MeSH, DeCS with Boolean operators, we selected those published with terminology adapted to English and Spanish, under eligibility criteria according to the proposed objective
