Item Análisis de los avances más recientes en nanotecnología y su aplicación en ingeniería de tejidos: Una revisión bibliográfica(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Contreras Tovar, Allisson Andrea; Chamorro Valencia, Luz Daniela; Gordon Irua, Edwin Adrián; Segura Castillo, Linda NeriethIntroduction: Nanotechnology is the study and manipulation of matter at the nanometer scale, i.e., in the range of 1 to 100 nanometers. This discipline enables the creation of materials and devices with unique properties not found in their macroscopic form. Nanotechnology is used in a variety of areas, including drug delivery, bioimaging, and tissue engineering (TI). Objective: To analyze the current state of research and development of nanotechnology in the field of TI. Materials and Methods: A review of the literature published in databases such as ScienceDirect and Springer between the years 2020-2024 was carried out using search equations. A total of 254 records were found, of which 55 were included in this review after applying the previously established selection criteria. Results: Nanomaterials, such as carbon nanotubes and nanoparticles, improve the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of biomaterials, facilitating tissue regeneration and integration with the biological environment. However, it also faces challenges, such as high production costs and the need to ensure safety and efficacy in clinical applications. Conclusions: Despite current challenges, continued research and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential to overcome barriers and maximize the effectiveness of nanotechnology-based treatments. Future developments in this field are expected to contribute to improved clinical outcomes and expand the applications of nanotechnology in medicine
