- Item Caracterización de embarazos adolescentes en una institución de salud de baja complejidad en Cali - Colombia.(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Amaya Solis, Juan Felipe; Castro Paez, Valeria; Mostacilla Peña, Paola Vannesa; Bambague, Goldy (Directora)Adolescent pregnancy has been identified by the World Health Organization WHO (2022) as a priority public health problem due to its implications on maternal and neonatal health, as well as its negative social and economic effects. Adolescent motherhood is not only a medical challenge when trying to complete high-risk pregnancies as successfully as possible, but it also represents a personal challenge for the adolescent because it implies a higher risk of complications during pregnancy such as eclampsia, puerperal endometritis and maternal death. In the newborn, there is an increased risk of premature birth, low birth weight, serious neonatal infections and even death.
