Item Ciencia & salud – los nuevos paradigmas en salud que planean la OMS y la OIT(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Venté Lerma, Íngrid Paola; Castellanos Duque, Ana Carolina; Castro Aranda, Álvaro EstebanThe ILO has recently published that 2.78 million workers die each year from work-related accidents and occupational diseases. The lost work days represent about 4 percent of world GDP, in addition to the human suffering caused impossible to measure. Therefore, WHO and the ILO have joined forces to calculate the global burden of occupational diseases and injuries. Methodology: A literature review of WHO and ILO articles dealing with occupational hazards was conducted. Results: 8 articles from the WHO and the ILO were included, which plan to estimate the relationship between exposure to a certain risk factor and the risk of developing different pathologies. Conclusions: The studies proposed by WHO and the ILO will be useful for: establishing research priorities in health and safety at work, helping to identify more vulnerable workers according to their occupation and, directing health interventions to these groups.
