Item Tecnologías para la generación distribuida de energía y su aporte a las ciudades sostenibles(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2019) Carabali Balanta, Luis Felipe; Salazar Calvache, Oscar AndrésCities occupy 3% of the earth surface, however, they consume approximately 75% of the electricity generated worldwide. One of the greatest concerns is the environmental impact since centralized generation uses mainly fossil fuels, making electricity generation one of the main emitting activities of greenhouse gases contributing a little more than 40% CO2 released into the atmosphere. Different studies indicate the possibility of reducing the environmental impact of electricity generation and obtain economic benefits through the integration of distributed generation in the electricity mix. This document discusses technologies used in distributed generation and how their implementation helps the construction of sustainable cities through the reduction of greenhouse gases and dependence on fossil fuels.
