This reflective article analyzes the transformative role of biomechanics in the functional aging of older adults, emphasizing its importance in enhancing autonomy, preventing injuries, and optimizing quality of life. Based on a theoretical review, it highlights how biomechanics, supported by technology, enables more precise, adapted, and optimal interventions tailored to the needs of this population. However, significant challenges and limitations are identified in professional training and in the integration of this discipline into various clinical and community programs, which compromises the effectiveness of interventions. It is concluded that strengthening the training of coaches, physiotherapists, and health professionals in biomechanics is essential and fundamental, promoting its systematic implementation as a key tool for healthy, autonomous, and primarily functional aging. Thus, the urgent integration of biomechanics into professional education and practice is proposed, consolidating its role as a transformative axis in addressing functional aging from both a scientific and applied perspective.
