Item Beneficios de la natación en niñas y niños menores de 10 años con diagnóstico de asma(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2024) Banguero Salazar, Juan Sebastián; Benavides Carabali, Luisa Gabriela; Castro Castro, Juan Nicolas; Rivera Hurtado, Ferney (Director)Asthma is a chronic and incurable disease, to this day, which consists of inflammation of the airways. It causes cough, chest pains and breathing problems, asthmatic patients show less intolerance to exercise due to their pre and post-exercise symptoms, and this causes a lack of physical activity and sports inactivity. Likewise, some may limit themselves to doing this due to the lack of information regarding exercise and asthma disease management, which could limit the recognition of sport as a non-pharmacological method for the management and physical and comprehensive recovery of children with asthma. This reflection article focused on describing the benefits of swimming as a comprehensive strategy to improve the health of children diagnosed with asthma. This will promote positive changes in their self-esteem and mood, and help them feel more confident and positive. In addition, swimming learning environments can be fun and encourage social interaction, allowing children to learn to interact with other children, make friends, and further develop social skills necessary for emotional development.
