    Rol del fonoaudiólogo en la intervención audiológica de personas con diabetes en un servicio público del suroriente de Cali (2015 a 2018)

    Diabetes is a metabolic pathology, which is due to an alteration in insulin secretion or a deficiency in its assimilation, which causes damage to organs and systems, especially nerves in this case and with the axis of our investigation would be auditory nerve and blood vessels. The general objective of this research was to describe the role of the speech therapist against audiological intervention of people with diabetes in a public service in the south-east of Cali between 2015 and 2018. With a descriptive and low-cross-section quantitative methodology A review of documentary sources, for this a census sample was considered, that is, all the medical records that meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria, of which 92 of 139 were provided by the ESE Suroriente. It is important to keep in mind that non-communicable diseases are those that present metabolic dysfunction. Among these is diabetes, studies have shown that these pathologies produce cochlear-vestibular dysfunction. The care route in Colombia for people with DM inform which are the systems that are affected by DM, which professionals should intervene and what procedures should be performed. In order to carry out this, health systems must abide by the indications stipulated by the Comprehensive Health Care Policy, the Comprehensive Health Care Route and the Territorial Comprehensive Care Model. Therefore, the problem question was asked: What was the role of the speech therapist against audiological intervention of people with diabetes in a public service in the south-east of Cali between 2015 and 2018? The reports made by the World Health Organization (WHO) indicating that more than three hundred million people have hearing problems, caused by different external and internal alterations (pathologies) were taken into account, as was found that the Situation Analysis Health in Cali from the ESE Suroriente indicate that there is an increase in cases with DM. On the other hand, it was important to take into account in the research what is the Profile and competences of the speech therapy professional in Colombia stipulated by the Ministry of Health regarding the promotion of communicative health and prevention of communication disorders. The results obtained showed that among the professionals who treat people with DM who attend a public service to attend to the different alterations they presented, there are no professionals in speech therapy, as well as there is no follow-up and referral for the people who stated hearing impairment.
