Somatotipo en jugadores de voleibol de un instituto deportivo de la ciudad de Palmira en el año 2019
(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2020) Bolaños Solano, Fabián Andrés; Arroyo Valencia, Ft. Luz Dary; Arroyo Valencia,Luz Dary(Asesora)
The research conducted in 2019 aimed to determine the somatotype of volleyball players from a sports institute in Palmira. According to Sheldon, somatotype is the quantification of three body components: fat, muscle, and linearity. This study arose from concerns in the field of sports physiotherapy, especially regarding the persistence of injuries in players despite professional support. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 19 athletes, evaluated between August and September 2018. The results showed that adolescents aged 15 to 16 commonly present an endomorphic somatotype. However, due to the demands of volleyball training—focused on strength, speed, and agility—these athletes tend to develop a mesomorphic somatotype between the ages of 17 and 18, which is more favorable for high performance. The research emphasizes the importance of considering somatotype in training plans, as it enhances athletic performance and fosters progress in sports research and competitiveness at both national and international levels.
