This review aims to identify the risk factors, etiology, complications and treatment for young adults between 20 and 40 years of age with a diagnosis of HBP, due to the limited information in this age range and the need for in-depth and updated knowledge. of the general approach to this clinical condition specifically in young adults. The search was carried out in the PubMed, Dialnet and ScienceDirect databases, applying MESH and DECS terms, the type of article (systematic reviews, meta-analysis and clinical trials) publication date (between 2019 and 2024) was applied as selection criteria. 2024), articles that are related to the topic and objective set, Spanish or English language. The review of the literature allowed us to establish the following main risk factors: active smoking, obesity, family history of HPB, low educational level, male sex. Among the complications were: target organ damage, stroke (stroke), AMI (acute myocardial infarction), heart failure and left ventricular hypertrophy. It was found that the presentation of HBP in young adults is mostly of secondary cause. We identified that the initial approach to this disease is based on the application of non-pharmacological measures such as: lifestyle changes, reduction in salt consumption, and in the second instance pharmacological management with ARA II antihypertensives in monotherapy.
