(2022) Cortés Obando, Manuela; Mosquera Marín, Ashley Dayana; Ramírez Aramendiz, Daniela; Arana Gordillo, Diana Fernanda (Directora)
The Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) is responsible for performing essential functions such as suction, breathing, swallowing, chewing and phonation. When a temporomandibular disorder occurs, these functions are not performed correctly; One of these alterations is Disc Luxation without reduction, in which the disc is dislocated in relation to the condyle and during normal movements of the mandible it does not return to its normal position with respect to the condyle. Physical treatments have positive effects by improving the symptoms of patients with disc dislocation without reduction, however, the use of combined physiotherapy is recommended.
