medication storage habits in underdeveloped countries and especially in Colombia have been a matter of concern for health institutions and a topic of study for the public health risks they can produce, such as drug poisoning. Expired, self-medication, customs not to “save them for when they are needed. Objective: to determine the storage conditions of medicines in the homes of the Cumbre Valle Municipality. Methodology: a quantitative, descriptive and inductive approach was used. The inhabitants over the age of 18 belonging to the Municipality of the Cumbre Valle were invited to participate in the research through semi-structured surveys, once they have expressed their authorization through informed consent. Results: of the 52 respondents, 73% said they do not read the instructions that the medicines bring before storing or consuming them, 60% do not stop to check the expiration dates. With this, it can also be observed that 63% of respondents stated that they have never received information about the storage of medicines by the health professional. Conclusions: it was concluded that the inhabitants of the Cumbre Valle Municipality are given very little information about the correct storage of medicines by health personnel, likewise, it is relevant to appreciate that people lack information about how to dispose of expired and partially consumed medicines.
