According to the World Health Organization (WHO), more than 50% of stroke patients suffer from balance and gait dysfunction that imply motor damage. Evidence from aquatic therapy programs has shown improvement in balance and gait after stroke, therefore, this study aimed to review a search from the literature on the effects of different aquatic therapy programs on balance and gait in stroke patients. Methods: The search was performed in databases such as Pubmed, ScinceDirect, Google Scholar, Dialnet, Pedro, Biomed Central, SAGE journals, articles published in a period between the year (2016-2024), as well as documents in English, Portuguese and their translations into Spanish. Results: The methodological design of the 16 selected articles corresponded to 47.05% of systematic review and meta-analysis studies, research that included (8) eight articles. Conclusion: Aquatic therapy programs have been shown to promote significant improvements in balance and gait, improving functional mobility and independence of people with stroke.
