Using microdata from the Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares (GEIH, 2023), the Blinder & Oaxaca (1973) econometric model is implemented to calculate wage differences. Variables considered include education, work experience, working hours, and childcare responsibilities. The results indicate that men possess more favorable individual characteristics, such as higher education and experience, leading to higher wages. Conversely, women face disadvantages in these areas, resulting in lower wages. Although part of the wage gap is explained by observable differences, gender discrimination and social expectations also play a role. In conclusion, this study highlights the need for policies that promote equal opportunities and awareness to achieve equitable income distribution in Cali’s labor market.eseducationhours workedlabor marketproductive characteristicswage discriminationGender Wage Gap: A Labor Market Analysis of Cali-Colombia and its Metropolitan AreaArticle
