The case of a group of foreign language students at Universidad Santiago de Cali.https://repositorio.usc.edu.co/handle/20.500.12421/6581The process of learning a foreign language has become an object of study for several disciplines, such as Second Language Acquisition (SLA), that pretend to explain the variables immersed in this experience, as well as the ones that condition the factors developed by teachers and students. Thus, the intention of this research focuses in exploring extracurricular activities as a support in learning a foreign language process through intercultural interaction in order to address aspects of learning such as motivation and self-confidence, after detecting the need of real and cultural immersion on the part of a group of students of a bachelor’s degree in foreign languages English French at Universidad Santiago de Cali. The language involved in this study is English, learned by the students mentioned as a foreign language in the academic education named and their first language is Spanish, for that reason their environment is a speaking-Spanish context most of the time. Considering Rost, (2006), the idea was to change students' reality by giving them meaningful input and output, through interaction in real contexts inviting them to activities outside the classroom in order to motivate them to continue learning and improve the foreign language. Furthermore, the presence of foreign english-speakers and oral production in cultural events was guaranteed. The students had the opportunity to perform these activities and their experience was analyzed in surveys made with the intention of evaluating improvements in English learning and motivation.application/pdf84 paginasesExtracurricular activitiesInterculturalityMotivationEnglish-speaking contextsEnglish as Foreign LanguageThe contact with foreign English speakers in extracurricular activities as an alternative to support English learning process.
