Consecuencias a la salud del síndrome de apnea de sueño en población adulta según revisión sistemática entre los años 2017-2023. 2024.https://repositorio.usc.edu.co/handle/20.500.12421/6261https://repositorio.usc.edu.co/handle/20.500.12421/5535This study aimed to identify the health consequences of sleep apnea syndrome in adults through a systematic literature review conducted between 2017 and 2023, following the PRISMA protocol and using databases such as PubMed, Scielo, and Elsevier. The findings indicate that sleep apnea is more prevalent in men, with increased incidence in postmenopausal women, and is strongly associated with obesity and body mass index. CPAP therapy emerged as the most scientifically supported treatment. The condition has a significant multisystemic impact, causing mild effects like poor sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, migraines, and mood changes, as well as serious complications affecting cardiovascular, metabolic, cognitive, and mental health. This study aimed to determine the health consequences of sleep apnea syndrome in the adult population through a systematic literature review conducted between 2017 and 2023, following the PRISMA protocol. The review included observational and descriptive studies from major databases such as PubMed, Scielo, BVS Nursing, Taylor & Francis, and Elsevier. Findings indicate that sleep apnea is more prevalent in men, with increased incidence in postmenopausal women. CPAP therapy is recognized as the most evidence-based treatment. The condition is strongly linked to obesity and body mass index and has a significant multisystemic impact, causing mild effects like poor sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, migraines, and mood changes, as well as serious complications affecting cardiovascular, metabolic, cognitive, and mental health.application/pdf35 (Páginas)esPrevalenciasíndrome de la apnea del sueñofactores de riesgoenfermeríaterapéuticaPresión de las vías aéreas positiva continuaprivación del sueño vigiliasistema respiratoriotrastornos de iniciación y mantenimiento del sueñoimpactos en la salud.Consecuencias a la salud del síndrome de apnea de sueño en población adulta según revisión sistemática entre los años 2017-2023ThesisAcceso (Abierto)Reconocimiento 4.0 Internacional (CC BY 4.0)
