Item Evolución de los tratamientos endovasculares en la enfermedad arterial oclusiva crónica periférica. Revisión de alcance(Universidad Santiago de Cali, 2023) Cabal Giron, Daniela; Giraldo Caicedo, Laura; López López, María NelaIntroduction: Chronic peripheral arterial occlusive disease (EAOCP) corresponds to the slow and gradual obstruction of the cavities of the arteries of the extremities, showing a higher prevalence in the elderly population; due to impaired quality of life. Objective: To analyze the evolution of endovascular treatments in peripheral chronic arterial occlusive disease. Materials and methods: A scope review was carried out through databases such as PubMed, Medigraphics, Elsevier and the Google academic repository, in different languages, such as: Spanish and English; between the years 2018 and 2023. Results. The presentation of peripheral chronic occlusive arterial disease is much more frequent in men than in women, this presents risk factors such as smoking, age, hypertension, cholesterol and diabetes among the main ones; an alternative to treat it are endovascular treatments that are characterized by being minimally invasive, improving the quality of the procedures and therefore quality of life of the patient; the two main treatments are drugs, conventional angioplasty and stent angioplasty. Conclusion: EAOCP is a serious medical condition that can have important negative consequences for the quality of life of patients. Endovascular treatments have become an effective alternative to major conventional treatments, offering higher success rates and lower complication rates
